I wish they would have cut the PC crap and kept to the mystery as written a bit more. The doctor being black, and dwelling on the segregation laws, and then re writing history, because a black person could not have had a sucessful practice at al in the 1920's in Europe or America. Then dwelling on the "sexism" in Hollywood at the time, and going on about how Linda Arden would have been the first female director. And making the point the Penelope Cruz character "trained to fight" as if a hundred pound woman can beat up a lot of people? This is Agatha Chritie, NOT Buffy. Then we have the totally unnecessary fight scene with the photographers. Meh. This has been done better.

Well, this is a new concept.....oh wait! No, it's not AGAIN! So once again Hollywood fails in their lazy ways to come up with something new? Go figure.... Are we EVER getting something new from these money grubbing vultures?

Disappointing. Watch the original, it is wonderful in every aspect.

I was so excited for this based on the trailer. I really wanted to like it more than I did. I feel this movie needed a better script and a more frenetic director, someone like Guy Ritchie. He maybe could have brought in some new energy. In fact they should have switched their last directing outings. I would have preferred Kenneth Branagh's take on King Arthur.

I fell asleep half an hour into this and woke up just before the ending. I felt like I did not miss anything. This was very disappointing and boring to boot.

Not as good as I had hoped. The quality is good enough to watch in case you want to know.

Irony: The first Thor movie that launched the trilogy that is now beating this movie at the box office was directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Kenneth Branagh was over the top as Poirot (what happened to David Suchet, Ken?). Overall, the film was not what one expected and the story showed its age, despite other Agatha Christie works being remade successfully in the recent years. Even the full line-up of glittering cast didn't help the film.

Oh joy, another remake! Seems like the only stuff Hollywood is churning out these days are remakes and superhero movies.

If you have no frame of reference (book, original movie, or another actor playing Poirot), the more you will enjoy the film. I love everything Agatha Christie and have watched almost every version of whatever is out there involving Poirot or Marple and as much as I looked forward to and wanted to love this film, I just didn't and no one is more disappointed than myself. Can't put my finger on exactly what it was, but it just didn't do it for me.

I am maybe one of few who can sincerely say that movie is very good ! It seems to be growing fashion today to complain on movies as much as possible, but this is because we are getting too much and then even grown up human beings can easily act like the spoiled child from rich family. Imagine audience reaction in early 70`s when best remake was made (yes better than this one)if movie of this visual quality would come out, people would go crazy ! . Cheers to all :-)

Lavish filming and star studded cast aside, the film is slow and dreary. Ken B overplays his part, seeming to be trying to emulate the incomparable Peter Ustinov who embodied the role so perfectly, but leaning more towards Mr Monk than Christie's detective. The story has taken great liberties with the original and none of them make it any better. I always disliked Brannagh as he seemed so selfagrandising, but that changed when I saw him in Harry Potter; I guess the director of that movie did a good job because ol' ken is back to his self importance here. If you are interested in a great rendering of Christie's stories, look for the Ustinov versions - it may be old but it is perfect.

Not bad, Agatha Christie style, ending was underwhelming but still worth a one time watch.

I found the film quite entertaining in its own way. Murder-mystery, with some twists and turns. The ending was anti-climactic however I think overall it was worth a watch. 3.5/5

Find it interesting that they did not do the stoning, because that shit still happens. Michelle Pfeiffer was the highlight in this, Kenneth Braggard not so much.
