Hollywood would cash in on anything, even on the misery of other people. Soulless.

Even though it pretty much takes place in one room it was a good movie. Showed the police brutality of the time and it was suspenseful. Great acting and all. 7/10

I dunno, it was a movie. I was extremely entertained throughout, I think that's what movies are supposed to do. If you want history, read a book. If you want fair unbiased comments you won't find that here. Power drunk mods seem to think they have a moral superiority to decide what is a just comment. Delete away mods.

Excellent movie, the actors did a great job. If it made you feel frustrated, angry and wanting justice, it's exactly what it was meant to do.

after watching the movie, if its mostly accurate, it seems to me that fault doesnt lie in any one place. i mean sure, white america at the time was pretty oppressive. thats not in dispute. but ti was black americans who started trashing and burning the shops in their town, and looting them along with other places.. thats on their heads. that kind of behaviour isnt justified simply because another group is mistreating others.. thats simply abhorrent behaviour, period. that said, what those officers did was wrong, end of story. instead of tormenting and terrorizing those folks, they should have arrested them in the correct manner, and dealt with it appropriately. the senseless murders of those kids is again, unjustifiable, regardless of any 'stress' they were under. and the fact that they werent held accountable in any meaningful way just shows that the system was deeply flawed and biased, cos its simple fact that had the situation been reversed, the penalties would have been extreme. it really is a sad indictment of the way things were, and in many ways still are... but slow as it may be at least change has and does occur. it was a tragic event, no doubt.. and i think this film portrays it well. of course too many people are just looking at it through one lense, instead of seeing that neither side behaved appropriately, and both sides have things to answer for in that series of events. this should be something people from ALL walks of life learn from, as failure to learn from our mistakes leads inevitably to repeating them. didnt mind the movie, but im inclined to agree that it was a bit drawn out for a one room setting. 3.5/5.. worth a watch imo.

Very slow and stretched out. I guess that's what you get with most history based dramas anyway. If you want to see a movie about the 12 Street Riots in 1967 Detroit, try again. 75% of this movie takes place in a hotel lobby. Not horribly bad, just a little long and drawn out for a single scene. I give this a 3/5, there could have been more variety.

21st Century and people still fighting over the color of their skin, their stupid religions, whose imaginary friend is the most "powerful" and politics...ignorance is dragging us all towards oblivion.

The people that are bashing this movie either aren't black or don't understand what this movie is all about. It's not for entertainment, it's portraying a true life event that took place decades ago showcasing racial divide. FOH

Sometimes I just don't get the folks on this site. Sure the picture is written to evoke emotion but not hate. Watch the movie and if it invokes rage let me buy you some hash browns.

The worst thing about this, is that this is just one incident of many like it. And it still goes on today. People whose only "crime" is the colour of their skin. And others getting away with violence towards them because their uniform is blue. As a white girl with black friends I found myself relating in a very uncomfortable way to how the girls were treated. The first time in my life that I was called a N**** lover and victimised because of who I was with, the perpetrator was a policeman. And this was the UK in 1982. Nothing really changes. NWA said it best.

Have we forgotten that dozens of white people were taccked by mobs of black people during those riots, and several were murdered by those black mobs.....and now we are somehow seeign white cops as the bad guiys because of a fictional account. Good Job. Very fair.

This was very well made, intense, acted and scripted nicely. All thou it dragged a bit at the "hostage" situation i think. all in all 4/5 easily from me. I think theres blame in both sides at that time, not one race is blame for this i think personally. Its just violence and unease minds dont take much to burst to full blown riots etc. Obviously those cops were not suited for the job since the racism. I do believe this was also historically very realistic.

An OK movie, falls under the category "watchable". Don't let the first half an hour, which looks like a documentary, deter you. The action starts right after that. The movie deals with the 1967 Algiers Motel incident.

Great film. Drags a little in the end and glosses over the trial leaving you with very little in the way of closure... much how I imagine the victims of the actual ordeal and their community felt. Much how I imagine the victims of police brutality today feel when officer after officer walks free when any one of us would be serving life in prison. There was a lot of 'controversy' surrounding Bigalow directing this but I'd say she did a decent job. At most it needs buttoning up a little. Some should consider that maybe there wasn't a clear cut ending because it hasn't ended.

Typical liberal propaganda to get people to hate cops and white ppl, there was no corruption. This is what happens when you give the dindus equal rights.

Anyone else find it odd that in the hallway that young in uniform cop without even one stripe on his shirt could order the older State police and National guards around? I was saying to myself wtf is that.

A really great movie. Great cast. Great writing. Unfortunately I am not in the right state of mind to have seen it. I feel like punching people's teeth out of their skulls. Sadly this story is just another day in the land of the biggest prison population on the fucking whole entire god damn planet. NOTHING has changed. Nothing. Obama didn't do jack shit, and it only got worse under his administration. And it still continues hard core with this new garbage administration as well. Latinos, First Nationers are all getting beat down and shot up and the police still walk away with these murders. Black women hung in jails. It goes on. All you can do is knock teeth out the faces of muthafuckas. Fuck you.
